Join Jennifer Key for an exploration of the natural technique known as eco printing on fibers and paper at Vistamar Ayampe, a beautiful open-air B&B overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

About the Workshop

Eco Printing is a process of contact printing and dyeing with plants on natural fibers or paper. We will collect local botanical samples on the beach, in the mountains, and at the produce market of the nearby town and work outdoors. No experience is necessary. You will have access to one-on-one advice and lessons from an experienced textile artist and eco printer and will learn the fundamentals of the process. While instruction is provided as much as desired, the work is independent and there will be plenty of time for exploring the beautiful coastline and enjoying side trips such as horseback riding in the rain forest, snorkeling and scuba diving, exploring and discovering hidden coves, yoga, or just swinging in the hammock with a good book. This is your paradise, and you can spend it however you please.

About Ayampe & Ecuador

Ayampe is a small village located on the Pacific coast of Ecuador. It has no traffic lights, no paved streets, no parking lots. The waves of the ocean provides the background noise. There are a few little bakeries, restaurants, and food shops, but other than that there’s not much commercial activity. It is full of friendly locals who feel just as lucky to be in paradise as you do. The side opposite the village is dominated by hills, home to beautiful vistas overlooking the ocean.

Vistamar is a cozy four room guest house with rustic beauty and modern comforts. Each room has comfortable amenities, a private bathroom with endless hot water (not always common in small villages!) and ocean and garden view. Rooms will also be available at Mango House, our sister guest house, located a half a block away. Mango House also boasts the same comfort, amenities and great views. All meals are prepared on site with fresh, local ingredients and include vegetarian and vegan options. For photographs and descriptions, check us out at vistamarayampe.com.
